Ken Gray (left Conyngham 1968)
Really good to read your article & see the old staff photo.
I can put a name to most of the teachers in the picture. I was in the first full intake in Sept 1964, During the year
before, pupils living in the surrounding area & attending other schools such as Hereson & St Georges were moved to
the new school. We were the first to come from Dame Janet, Newington Primary or St Lawrence etc.
In the photo I think
I can see Mr Fletcher (later to become Headmaster at St Georges) also Mr Caberlero (not sure of spelling), only they didn`t
arrive until 1965. The man next to Mr Smith was Mr Ward, the much feared Deputy Head. He was the one who carried out the
caning. Miss reeves to the right was the senior mistress for the girls. She drove an E-type jag.
I have only attended
one reunion since I left in 1968 & that was a year later. I would be very interested in hearing about the next.
